Description

3M Aluminium Foil Tape 425 is 70µm nominal dead soft aluminium foil backing combined with a highly engineered pressure sensitive, transparent acrylic adhesive.  It is ideal for heat shielding, heat reflecting, chemical masking, light enhancement, chemical milling,
seaming, sealing and de-paint operations.

Key Features:

• The very low moisture vapour transmission rate makes these tapes a good sealant.
• The acrylic adhesive, combined with the durable aluminium backing, offers ideal properties for long serviceable life in and outdoors.
• Good candidate as a maskant in electroplating of aluminium because it will not contaminate the bath.
• Aluminium backing provides good reflection of both, heat and light.
• Best results obtained when applied to a clean, dry surface above 0°C.

Application ideas:

• Aircraft paint stripping maskant
• Moisture barrier in “white goods” appliances.
• General purpose heat reflector and heat dissipater
• Mechanically hold wires and cooling coils in “white good” appliances.
• Repair tears on trucks trailers and aircraft. Splicing of thin gauge foils.
• General purpose holding, patching, sealing application – indoors and out.

Certifications:

• Flame resistant. Meets U.L. 746 (File E 122798) and 723, Class “L” low flammability rating (file 7311)
• Can be certified to meet SAE-AMS-T 23397, L-T-80C and ABS 5604.
• Meets requirements of F.A.R. 25.853(a).
