Description
Birkosit is a high-performance sealing paste designed for critical applications, especially where temperatures, pressures, and sealing precision are paramount. It is often used in industrial settings, particularly in the turbine, power generation, and shipbuilding industries.
Key Features:
- High Temperature Resistance: Birkosit withstands extreme temperatures up to 900°C (1652°F), making it suitable for use in high-temperature environments like turbines.
- High Pressure Sealing: It provides excellent sealing at pressures up to 250 bar (3625 psi), ensuring that even under intense conditions, the seal remains intact.
- Non-Hardening: This sealing paste remains flexible and does not harden over time, maintaining its sealing capabilities and allowing for easier removal if needed.
- Chemical Resistance: Birkosit is highly resistant to chemicals, ensuring that it remains effective in harsh environments exposed to oils, greases, fuels, and other corrosive agents.
- Wide Application: It is used for flange joints, exhaust systems, turbines, compressors, and other machinery requiring high-temperature and high-pressure sealing.
Applications:
- Power Plants: Steam and gas turbine housings, as well as other high-temperature/high-pressure components.
- Shipbuilding: Used in engine room sealing, exhaust systems, and other critical areas.
- Mechanical Engineering: Suitable for compressors, pumps, and other machinery exposed to high temperatures and pressures.
This paste is applied in thin layers to ensure precise and durable sealing, making it a preferred choice for demanding industrial applications.
It is the only turbine parting plane flange sealant developed in cooperation with a turbine maker, Siemens. Used today by Nuclear Power, NTPC, Siemens, BHEL, L&T, Mitsubishi, Triveni and all other OEMs, this highest temperature and pressure resistance sealing product is used for sealing the steam and gas turbine flanges in all power stations.
Service life
When used in accordance with instructions and with regular servicing as required for steam and gas turbines as well as for the application areas stated above, we guarantee a service life for use on machined sealing surfaces (butt joints) of 10 years.
Storage
Packed in 1 kg tins. If stored correctly, BIRKOSIT Sealing Compound has a storage life of 5 years in the tin. Its properties are stable and it is flexible in use. Close the tin properly if only a part of the contents is going to be used.
